T. werneri o T. kleinmanni werneri

Dear friends,
I am having both species with me, but I am sure, T. werneri, independing on its rarity, cannot be separate species, than - subspecies of T. kleinmanni, i.e. T. kleinmanni werneri. Let me know your opinion!
I am attaching two photos, to check about the difference!

Hello Marco,
T.werneri was described as a separate species by Perala (2001); although I haven't read the article, I strongly doubt that this taxon is valid, unless philogenetic evidence proves it.
T.kleinmanni werneri as a subspecies, on the other hand, might prove correct if the description is based on a relevant number of specimens whose provenance is known for certain; what can you tell us about the ones in your possession?

My Werner's came from Sinai Peninsula surely (100%), and I have got 7 heads only, few years ago. On the other side, all Egyptian T. of mine are originate from Lybia surely. They are appearing as the same animals, but there are some differences available!

I'd go for separation at subspecies level!
A wonderful group, really... Did you succeed in breeding them? We often talk about kleinmanni here because they seem to be a particularly nasty species when it comes to breeding...

Fede, in pratica una richiesta di pareri riguardante i 2 gruppi in foto.
In pratica se il secondo gruppo sia da considerare specie (Testudo werneri) o solo sottospecie delle kleinmanni ( Testudo kleinmanni werneri)
Ovviamente se ho capito bene...

Come ho scritto a Marco, la mia impressione è che si possa parlare di differenziazione a livello di sottospecie, almeno finchè non ci sarà uno studio filogenetico (e non so se questo c'è nella descrizione di Perala per la Wernieri, perchè non l'ho letta).
