Yes, of course, dear Federica, this "male" should be checked by Veterinarian as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I am having two remarks in this "male" by my point of view:
1. I never seen T.H.B. like this in my life. Believe me in it, I haver seen few thousand of adult T.H.B. in my life, but never animals like this (unusual carapace color, totaly different plastron marking). So, by first look of mine, I was sure it could be old male of T.H.H.!?
Anyway, due I am having not T.H.H. on my farm available, I cannot be sure in it. You should know about it much better, but this male cannot be pure T.H.B., it is outside from T.H.B. morphology;
2. This animal is very different of all Testudo males I have ever seen. I was in position to see big quantity of males of T.H.B., T.H. hercegovinensis, T. m. marginata, T. m. weissingeri, T. g. ibera, T. g. terrestris, T. g. cyraniacia, T. g. anamuresnis, but I never seen "male" like this.
So, for my point of view, this animals in not right male. It could be much probable one hermaphrodite animal, or male with breakdown sexual functions. Of course, I cannot claim this "male: is deponing eggs. No, but I am sure, he cannot copulate normaly, due of changes in its hormonal activities inside.
On the other side, the female is appearing very beautifull, and she should be accompanied with one right adult male as soon as possible!
Warmest regards, Marco
